According to the data obtained by the Digitimes resource, Intel will ship 6 million units to the processor market for wholesale and retail consumers in the 4th quarter of 2018, which is 2 million less than expected volumes. This decision was made to meet the demand of corporate clients in the areas of server processors and mobile solutions.
The markets of server solutions and laptops are extremely sensitive to changes and if there is a shortage of the required volume of processors to the consumer, the share will be occupied by a competitor (AMD) and it will be extremely difficult to return it, much more difficult than the share of the retail market.
The shortage of Intel processors will lead to a significant drop in demand for motherboards focused on them and some decrease in sales for video cards.
