Samsung has introduced the server memory module Registered DIMM DDR4 of 256 gigabytes. The module consists of 16 Gigabit memory chips. Today it is the maximum available amount of memory placed on the one board.
The memory module is equipped with an error correction (ECC) function. As with the RAM of this volume, the manufacturers of server solutions neither on AMD EPYC processors nor on Intel Xeon had no business, the novelty requires a certain time for testing and adaptation. After solving all the technical difficulties associated with the introduction of a new generation of RDIMM, servers will be able to get a much larger amount of memory than they have now.
